One Bruce Wayne wasn’t enough, it seems. Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman in Aquaman 2, confirmed in an Instagram post that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the DC sequel. This will be the first time Affleck has played Batman since Justice League.

“REUNITED bruce and arthur. love u and miss u Ben WB studio tours just explored the backlot alright. busted on set all great things coming AQUAMAN 2 all my aloha j,” Momoa wrote, alongside a photo with Affleck backstage at Aquaman 2.

With Ben Affleck‘s return confirmed, there will be not just two but three Batmans on screen at the same time. Michael Keaton will play Batman again for the first time since Batman Returns in the upcoming Batgirl, and Robert Pattinson will play Batman in the sequel to the hit Batgirl. The Batman is Matt Reeves.

Both Keaton and Affleck have already agreed to be in The Flash, which is expected to bring the same multiverse shenanigans that fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe like to see to DC’s movies. Even though Pattinson’s Batman isn’t part of the DCEU, that didn’t stop the Marvel Studios from making more Spider-Man. Now, only Keanu Reeves is needed to finish the group of four.

Three years ago, Affleck said he was giving up being Batman. He said he would hang up his cape and cowl after the first episode of The Flash aired. But as a flying Batarang, the Batfleck has come full circle and seems to have agreed to be in more DC movies.

Affleck’s relationship with DC has been up and down. He first left after Justice League, telling Matt Damon in an interview for Entertainment Weekly, “I had a really bad time with Justice League for a lot of different reasons.” But now that it looks like he will be in Aquaman 2, Ben Affleck will be the actor who has been in the most movies. Now all we need is a J. Lo. Catwoman.

On March 17, 2023, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be released in theaters.
