Marvel’s Eternals Coming to Disney+ Hotstar January 12, 2022

Marvel Studios announced late Friday that Eternals will be released on Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar on January 12, 2022.

The latest Marvel film, which will be surpassed by Spider-Man: No Way Home, which will be released on December 16 in India, will arrive 69 days after its global theatre premiere on November 5 in India, the United States, and other countries. That’s two days less than the 71-day window Disney set for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the previous Marvel film. Eternals will be available on Disney+ Hotstar in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, precisely as it was in theaters.

IMAX Enhanced on Disney+, like on IMAX screens, has a 1.90:1 aspect ratio, which means certain sequences have a 26 percent larger picture. (IMAX Enhanced is available for the first time on Disney+.) Sony had already included IMAX Enhanced in Bravia Core for a limited number of 4K Bravia TVs.) Although IMAX Enhanced is not officially marketed or available on Disney+ Hotstar, some users have reported being able to watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in this format.

Eternals is about the titular immortal beings that have been living quietly on Earth for almost 7,000 years. It was co-written and directed by Oscar winner Chloé Zhao. The Eternals must band together to defend the planet as their evil counterparts, the Deviants, resurface. Gemma Chan as Sersi, who can manipulate inanimate things, Richard Madden as Ikaris, who can fly and shoot beams out of his eyes, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, who can shoot energy missiles from his hands, and Lia McHugh as Sprite, who can project life-like illusions, make up the Eternals cast.
