India Confirms First Two Cases of Omicron

India’s first two cases of the Omicron type of Covid-19 infection were reported today in the southern state of Karnataka, according to the Indian Health Ministry.

All secondary contacts of the two patients who have been found with the Omicron variant have been traced and are being tested.

The first two cases were confirmed by lab tests, according to the ministry.

When the first two instances of Omicron in India were announced, Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal informed the media that people should not be alarmed and that they should take Covid-appropriate precautions and avoid crowds.

“The first two people infected with the Omicron variety are guys aged 66 and 46,” he stated, “but their identities are being withheld for the time being to safeguard their privacy.”

According to an Indian health ministry official, the Omicron form was first discovered in southern Africa and has since spread to 29 countries.

According to Agarwal, 84.3 percent of India’s projected 94 crore adult population has received the first dose of the Covid vaccination, with 49 percent having received the complete dose.

To prevent the spread of the new strain, India has already implemented tight health regulations for international travelers.
