Tesla CEO Elon Musk praised “Indian talent” after Indian-origin Parag Agrawal took over as Twitter’s new CEO, replacing Jack Dorsey.
“USA benefits greatly from Indian talent!” Elon Musk said in response to a tweet by Stripe CEO Patrick Collison, who used this handle to emphasize the fact that six US tech behemoths are now led by Indian-origin CEOs.
“Google, Microsoft, Adobe, IBM, Palo Alto Networks, and now Twitter are run by CEOs who grew up in India. It is wonderful to watch the amazing success of Indians in the technology world; it is a good reminder of the opportunity America offers to immigrants. (Congrats, @paraga!),” Collison tweeted.
After his predecessor and Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey stepped down, Parag Agrawal, alumni of IIT-Bombay and Stanford University, was named the new CEO of the social media behemoth on Monday. Prior to joining Twitter in 2011, he worked at Microsoft, Yahoo, and AT&T labs.

After Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen, Parag Agrawal is the fourth Indian-origin person to run a major US-based IT corporation.
“Parag has been behind every critical decision that helped turn this company around. He’s curious, probing, rational, creative, demanding, self-aware, and humble,” Jack Dorsey hailed in a message shared on his Twitter account.
