Last week’s release of Return to Hogwarts prompted fans to point out a number of errors in the reunion special. A childhood photo of Emma Roberts, which was mistakenly used in place of Emma Watson’s, was among them.
Emma, who plays Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movie, thinks Emma Roberts’ lovely baby portrait is adorable. She posted the picture on Instagram on Wednesday, tagging her namesake and remarking, “I was NOT this cute, @emmaroberts #emmasistersforever.”
Emma Roberts shared the post on her Instagram Stories, gently disagreeing with the Harry Potter actor’s views: “Haha, I don’t think so, “exclaimed she. Watson’s message drew a lot of attention from fans. One person wrote, “The emmaverse is real.” Another person said, “My god, this was really amusing.” “Spoiler alert for the reunion,”
Fans pointed out that the lovely kid sporting Minnie Mouse ears in the Harry Potter reunion special last week was actually actor Julia Roberts’ niece Emma Roberts, not Emma Watson. The shot was first released by the Holidate actor almost a decade ago, in 2012. The shot was shown during a montage of Emma Watson’s childhood events during the reunion episode, where she discussed how the Harry Potter books influenced her growing up years.
Return to Hogwarts producers replied to the gaffe by confessing their error. “Well spotted Harry Potter enthusiasts!” they remarked in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. You alerted us to an editing error involving a mislabeled photograph.”
A mistake was also made in the reunion episode when actors Oliver Phelps and James Phelps were introduced in a scene. Their names looked to be reversed on the screen. Oliver and James Weasley, real-life twins, played brothers George and Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter movie. “I assume after all those pranks over the years somebody decided to get their vengeance,” Oliver wrote on Instagram, pointing out the error. It was a dream come true to be a part of the HP reunion. I hope you everyone had a good time. #ReturnToHogwarts.”
Emma Watson, now 31, made her acting debut in 2001’s Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first Harry Potter film. Emma Roberts starred as a kid artist in the film Blow the same year.
