WhatsApp is experimenting with a new option for its in-app payment system. Users of the chat app may soon be able to get cash back on purchases. This feature is presently being tested, and there is no information on when it will be released.

The new WhatsApp payment feature could be limited to India or launched there first. The incentive is limited to UPI payments in India in the test spotted by WABetaInfo. WhatsApp is now offering a refund of up to $10 per payment, although this may be expanded before the feature’s official launch. Users can only obtain one cashback, according to WABetaInfo. It’s unclear whether this implies WhatsApp would give you one reward per payment or one cashback per transaction. There’s also some debate over whether this reward will be available solely to new users or to existing users.

The feature is also being tested in the WhatsApp app, but it is not available to public beta testers. “Get cashback on your next payment,” it says at the top of the conversation list. To get started, simply tap on it. There isn’t enough information today, but as the project progresses, we may learn more about the WhatsApp payment feature. The payback option, on the other hand, is clearly a tactic for WhatsApp to promote its payments business in India.
