Realme C35, Realme 9 5G, and Realme 9 5G Speed Edition are three new phones from Realme that are all reasonably affordable in India. The Realme 9i (Review) and several older variants are still available for purchase at the same price point. We’re getting a first look at the new Realme 9 5G today. This is supposed to be a budget all-arounder, but what does that mean in 2023, and does it include all of the features and capabilities you’d expect at this price point?
The Realme 9 5G is available in India for Rs. 14,999 (introductory deal) for the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, and Rs. 17,499 for the second variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. SBI and ICICI Bank customers can enjoy a Rs. 1,500 immediate discount. On March 14, it will be available for the first time. The Realme 9 5G Speed Edition has a starting price of Rs. 19,999 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and a price of Rs. 22,999 for 8GB of RAM and the same 128GB of storage.
This is a 5G ready phone, which is noteworthy because not all of the competition in the Rs. 15,000 price range will let you connect to 5G networks when they go live in India, which might be later this year. Does this, however, imply that you must make concessions in other areas? Let’s have a look.
Realme 9 5G Specifications and Features
Realme chose a 6.5-inch full-HD+ 90Hz display. A MediaTek Dimensity 810 CPU with 5G capability is used. Although there is a 5000mAh battery, charging speed is limited to 18W, and the charger included in the packaging is somewhat large. Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, and all of the standard location services are also supported on this phone.
While the fundamental features are marginally inferior to those of the more expensive Realme 9 Speed Edition, both devices appear to have the same camera setup. On the back, you’ll find a 48-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel macro camera, and a “B&W portrait lens,” according to the manufacturer. There is no ultra-wide camera, which is a bit of a letdown. For selfies, there’s a 16-megapixel front camera.
The Realme 9 5G is composed of plastic, and while the build quality is adequate, it does not impress at first. Unlike earlier models, this one lacks an eye-catching design flare. Stargaze White and Meteor Black are the two colors offered for the phone. The first, which I have, catches the light at certain angles and refracts pinkish-yellowish tones, whilst the second is straightforward and simple. This phone measures 8.5mm thick and weighs 188g.
Realme 9 5G Review
The back panel curves to meet the plastic frame on the sides, making this phone relatively comfortable to hold and use. The fingerprint sensor is built within a recessed power button that is easily accessible. On the left, you’ll find the volume controls and the SIM card slot (with two Nano-SIM slots and a microSD card slot). A USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio socket, and speaker are located on the bottom.
In terms of design, the Realme 9 5G isn’t likely to turn any heads. It also lacks the kinds of characteristics that will entice individuals to join. However, for those who just want to use everyday apps and aren’t concerned about gaming or photo quality, it might be a decent 5G-capable workhorse. Stay tuned to Gadgets 360 as we put this phone through our complete review process to assess its performance, cameras, software, battery life, simplicity of use, and much more.
