India superstar Virat Kohli and Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq embraced warmly, putting an ugly IPL episode behind them, as India thrashed Afghanistan by 8 wickets in the World Cup match at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Naveen approached Kohli with an extended hand during India’s successful run chase. The two shared a heartwarming hug and smiled, burying the hatchet over their earlier confrontational exchange in an IPL match. Commentator Ravi Shastri quipped Naveen had to return to the Virat Kohli pavilion at the Delhi stadium, eliciting laughs. Kohli also gestured to the crowd to stop booing Naveen, who was jeered constantly during the match.

Rohit Smashes Record 7th World Cup Ton
India skipper Rohit Sharma surpassed compatriot Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 6 World Cup centuries, slamming his 7th ton to power India’s domination. Chasing 273, India cruised to victory in just 35 overs as Rohit blasted 131 off 63 balls. He became the fastest Indian to score a World Cup hundred, reaching the milestone in 63 balls. Rohit-Ishan Set Up Big Win
Rohit added 156 for the opening wicket with Ishan Kishan, who made 47, to set up a huge win – India’s second straight in the tournament. Rohit lauded his team’s ability to play fearless cricket after the dominating win.

Earlier, Afghanistan opted to bat first after winning the toss, posting a competitive 272/8. Pace ace Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of India’s bowlers, snaring his best World Cup figures of 4/39. Afghanistan slipped to 63/3 before skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi (80) and Azmatullah Omarzai (62) steadied the ship with a 121-run partnership. Bumrah outfoxed the Afghan batsmen with his variations while the other bowlers provided able support.
