Texas Football

The exceptional five-star Waco (TX) Connally cornerback Kobe Black is widely regarded as the “must-win” recruiting for Texas football in the 2024 class this fall. At this stage in the cycle, cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph and this staff are focused on the No. 1 cornerback recruit in Texas in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports Composite.

Black is such a talented recruit that many of the nation’s top Power Five institutions are still in contact with him this autumn.

Kobe Black, a 5-star Texas football cornerback prospect, has canceled his official visit to LSU this weekend

Black was supposed to make an official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend to watch LSU play FCS Grambling at Tiger Stadium. However, according to Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas on September 9 (paid content), Black canceled his formal visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.

This is a great sign for Texas’ status among the top colleges vying for Black’s commitment this fall.

Black will also make an official visit to College Station for the Oct. 6 clash between Texas A&M and Alabama at Kyle Field. That is the next formal visit date to keep an eye on in this recruitment for Texas.

According to this IT report, Texas A&M is presently regarded the “biggest threat” to Texas in the hunt to land Black’s commitment early this autumn.

Texas is still the popular bet to land Black in the 2024 class this fall.

Texas has long been seen as the frontrunner in this recruitment. During the spring, Black has excellent relationships with the Longhorns and their coaches. During the summer, he made many successful visits to Austin, including an official trip in late June.

There is no official decision timeline for Black. However, he has stated in several interviews over the last two months that he intends to visit this fall and be patient with the recruiting process.
