India’s T20I captain, Rohit Sharma, has been picked for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
Sharma will lead a 16-man side against New Zealand in three T20Is commencing on November 17, with fellow opener KL Rahul serving as vice-captain. This will also be the first task for new Head Coach Rahul Dravid, who will succeed Ravi Shastri.
Virat Kohli, whose term as India’s T20I skipper ended with the completion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, has been left out of the team.
Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, and Harshal Patel are among the newcomers to the squad. Several prominent figures, including Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, and Yuzvendra Chahal, make cameo appearances.
With the exception of the captain and vice-captain, five layers from the World Cup team have been retained for the three-match series against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, and Axar Patel are among the squad’s backup players.

After a dismal showing in the UAE, where they lost their first two games against Pakistan and New Zealand, India will want to start preparing for the next T20 World Cup in Australia. India did not have enough points to qualify for the semi-finals despite winning their last three games convincingly.
