Two more Indian beaches, Eden Beach in Puducherry and Kovalam Beach in Tamil Nadu, have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag accreditation, bringing the total number of Blue Flag-certified beaches to eight. The 10 blue flag beaches in India have also been recertified in addition to the new accreditation.
We highlight the primary features at these coasts and why you should plan a vacation to one of them soon because the country has ten eco-sensitive beaches that promote sustainable tourism. Here we will discuss about the best blue flag beaches in India which you must visit.
Eden Beach
Tourists are unfamiliar with Puducherry’s Eden Beach. In 2019, it was awarded the Blue Flag certification. It’s sandwiched between two popular tourist destinations: the Arts and Crafts Village and Paradise Beach. Eden gives you a Kerala-like vibe with its coconut tree plantations. “We discovered Eden Beach by mistake while looking for Paradise Beach on a map. We arrived around sunset, and the sight was something I had never seen before. The bizarre combination of a constantly changing sky, cleanliness, and the beautiful blue Bay of Bengal was a fantastic experience. Swati Vajpayee, a frequent traveler from Mumbai, describes it as “right out of some artist’s painting.” The beach features sit-out umbrella shelters, a watchtower, an amphitheatre, scuba diving, a children’s play area, workout equipment, and backwaters, among other things.
Kovalam BeachÂ
Kovalam Beach, also known as Covelong Beach, is a beautiful beach near Covelong, some 40 kilometers south of Chennai. Wind surfing is its most famous sport, and it attracts a large number of adventure seekers. You can participate in a variety of water sports, sunbathe, or explore an ancient Dutch Fort on the shore.
Golden Beach
Puri Beach, often known as Golden Beach, is a beach in Puri, Odisha. The authorities conduct sand art shows, including pieces by award-winning sand artiste Sudarshan Pattnaik, and are best known for the annual Puri Beach Festival. Last year, the beach received the Blue Flag distinction. The length of fine golden sand, lined with booths offering seafood and refreshments, is known as Golden Beach. “I went to the Puri beach with my family on our way to the nearby Jagannath Temple for darshan. The beach’s cleanliness and the clear, turbulent seas are stunning. Beena Kumar, who visited the Golden Beach a few years ago, recalls, “We noticed so many people enjoying surfing there.”
Shivrajpur Beach
The Shivrajpur Beach, which is over 12 kilometers from Dwarka, is great for a long walk. This Blue Flag-certified beach is ideal for spending the weekend with family and children. You might also see a dolphin or some gorgeous birds. Okha Madhi, with its excellent sands, and Poshitara, with its coral reefs and marine life, are two more must-see coastal spots near Dwarka.
Kappad Beach
If you visit Kozhikode, you’ll almost certainly want to go to the Kappad Beach, which is around 16 kilometers outside the city. It is thought that 170 men headed by Vasco da Gama first stepped onto Kerala’s shores in 1498, more than 500 years ago. A trip around the area will give you a sense of its historical significance. Local dishes and tea are constantly available in the shacks. With friends or family, you can go on a boat excursion, swim in the backwaters, or play beach activities. A houseboat sail down the river to Kappad will add to the enchantment of your beach vacation.
Kappad was our go-to place to get away from the hustle and bustle of college life. Because the beach is still relatively unknown, its extensive stretches of sand are calm and tranquil. Tulika Lall, a former student of IIM Kozhikode, says, “I loved watching the western coast transition from blue to pink to deep orange early in the morning, followed by tea and toast at the neighboring shacks.”
Ghoghla BeachÂ
The Ghoghla Beach, 15 kilometers from Diu, is the UT’s largest beach. It features golden sands and crystal clear water all year. Ghoghla has ergonomically constructed bio-toilet blocks, locker rooms, and recreational amenities such as an open gym and children’s parks. The most popular beach adventure sports include parasailing, surfing, banana boat excursions, and water scooters.
Kasarkod Beach
Karnataka’s forest and tourism authorities created the Kasarkod Beach to promote eco-tourism in the state. The beach runs for five kilometers and is completely covered in white sand. In comparison to the other prominent beaches in Karnataka, it is the least crowded. While there is no public transportation to this beach, taxi service is available.
Radhanagar Beach
Radhanagar Beach is one of Havelock Island’s most well-known attractions in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It was awarded the greatest beach in Asia and the ninth best in the world by Time Magazine in 2004. “It’s surrounded on both sides by tropical jungle and filled with coconut trees. The Radhanagar Beach is a wonderful spot to unwind and watch the sunset. I went there on our honeymoon, and it was really wonderful! The emerald blue seas beckon you to have a swim almost immediately,” says Mumbai resident Rahul Tiwari. The beach is littered with bungalows, benches, and seats where you may unwind. The fact that you are allowed to bring food and water inside is a unique feature of this beach.
Rushikonda Beach
The Rushikonda Beach, about 8 kilometers from Visakhapatnam, is famed for its golden sands and calm Bay of Bengal surf. The beach, which is surrounded by greenery, is extremely popular with nature enthusiasts. Swimming, water skiing, and surfing are among the water sports available. Tourists are drawn to the beach by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department’s cottages and restaurants.
Padubidri BeachÂ
Padubidri Beach is located in the Karnataka district of Udupi. It’s the ideal place to go if you want to have some fun and adventure while relaxing by the sea. At this less-crowded beach, you may enjoy water sports and adventure rides in addition to taking a stroll in the evening or watching the sunset.
