Jeff Bezos, the founder of Blue Origin, congratulated SpaceX and Elon Musk on the successful launch of all-civilian spaceflight.
After SpaceX’s successful Inspiration4 launch, billionaire Jeff Bezos startled the world by taking to social media to send a congratulations message to arch-rival Elon Musk. Bezos and Musk have been at odds for years, and have publicly traded jabs at one another, but their recent amicable banter on Twitter has startled many.
Taking to Twitter, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos stated, “Congratulations to @ElonMusk and the @SpaceX team on their successful Inspiration4 launch last night. Another step towards a future where space is accessible to all of us.” And, to everyone’s amazement, Musk, too, said, “Thank you.”

While the billionaires participated in amicable banter following the successful mission of Musk’s aerospace business SpaceX, the tweets drew the attention of other Twitter users, who offered their thoughts on Bezos and Musk’s cordial discussion.
Interestingly, Bezos’ aerospace business, Blue Origin, had recently filed lawsuits against SpaceX, including a lawsuit against NASA for awarding the latter a massive space contract. Following this, Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla, made a public jab at Bezos on social media, as well as commenting on his decision to stand down as Amazon CEO. This wasn’t the end of it, though, as Musk went on to express his thoughts on allegations of Bezos’ investment in an anti-aging research firm, pushing their animosity to a new level.
Meanwhile, a contract has been awarded to both Musk’s SpaceX and Bezos’ Blue Origin to build designs for NASA’s moon-lander mission. While NASA has awarded Blue Origin a $25.6 million contract, the space agency has also awarded $9.4 million to SpaceX, with the remainder of the deal going to the other companies specified in NASA’s statement.
